UCOUNT4EU

We would like to thank you for participating in Gov2U’s Ucount4eu campaign for the European Parliamentary Elections of June 2009. Our initiative aimed at raising awareness regarding the European Elections and boosting voter turnout. Your input, your thoughts and ideas and your participation in the forums that focused on specific policy areas, were of utmost importance.

A paper with the results of this campaign, positive and negative, will be published soon.

Once again, thank you for having taken the time to be a part of this initiative. We will continue to work towards a better Europe and will keep you posted on new initiatives through the Gov2U website.

The Ucount4eu campaign is a Gov2u-led initiative that intends to rally European citizens from all the member states of the Union around the upcoming European Parliament elections, to raise their awareness of the importance of the European electoral process and how it affects their daily lives on a national level, and most importantly, to provide citizens with the means to contribute to, and impact, the debate on the issues that concern them most.

Our goal is to strengthen your ability to affect the discussion of the issues that concern you most, to ensure that they are reflected at the top of the agenda of the European Parliament and that within these issues, your opinions and concerns are heard and taken into consideration.

The campaign will harness the power of the internet to bring European citizens from all around the Union together to discuss the main policy issues on the Parliament’s agenda through dedicated Citizen Discussion forums and later, through targeted Petitions to the European Parliament on the top issues of concern for EU citizens. The ucount4eu campaign aims to gather at least one million signatures on each of the five planned citizen-driven petitions, which if successful, will be forwarded to the newly elected Parliament for consideration and action accordingly.
